Tile Chalkboard Tutorial

As promised, here are a step-by-step instructions on how to do one of the four leftover tile projects. They will be more to come as well!

Tile Chalkboard

Supplies:
One tile (I used a 12x12 piece)
Chalkboard paint
Acryllic paint

Paintbrush
Painter's tape
Ring hangers (2)
Heavy duty adhesive such as Goop or E600
Scissors
Ribbon

Step One:
Using the tape, tape off a border around the tile. I did about an inch. Unfortunately, at the time, I only had packing tape so it is hard to see in the picture, but it worked well enough. Make sure to press down really well on the tape because depending on your type of tile, it can be an uneven surface and that can cause the paint to leak under the tape.

Step Two:
Paint the exposed tile with chalkboard paint. Let it dry and then paint another layer of the chalkboard paint. Once it is dry, peel the tape of and use a wet washcloth to wipe off an paint they may have made its way under the tape.

Step Three:
Paint the remaining exposed tile with the acryllic paint. I didn't tape over the chalkboard paint because I was afraid that the packing tape might take up some of the paint. So I carefully painted around it but I think that painter's tape should be ok.

I am new to blogging so I forgot to take a picture of this step. Sorry!!

Step Four:
Once all of the paint is dry, turn the tile over and glue the ring hangers on evenly on the back of tile. I placed them far enough down the tile to where they don't show from the top. This is what you will tie the ribbons to.

Step Five:
Depending on the type of glue you use, it may take awhile for it to dry. Once its dry, tie the ribbon onto each hanger. I cut another piece of the ribbon, tied it into a bow and glued it and the peak of the tied ribbons.

To finish, find a place on your wall that you need a message board and hang it in place! Good luck!!
